Pet Hospital of North Park recommends you microchip your pet. Even indoor cats occasionally bolt outside and are often lost forever without a microchip. The microchip is a small device injected under the skin between your pet’s shoulder blades and can be easily scanned by any veterinary clinic, shelter, or pound when delivered by a good citizen as a “lost pet,” and contains unique information that is linked to your contact information in a nationwide database available to all employees of the mentioned facilities. Microchipping your pet will help reunite you with your fur babies if they ever become lost.
